A glimpse into my childhood.

Decided to use my wire bending skills to make something other than orthodontic appliances.

I managed to pick up a few charms at an art store yesterday (impulsive buying argh!), I couldn’t help but notice how the charms remind me of things that I’ve always loved, but have forgotten about along the way of growing up.

In 1995, I moved to one of the wettest towns in the world! It rained everyday. My elementary school was a small one that offered little protection and shade. Whenever it started to rain, everyone would move their chairs and tables away from the window and huddle in the middle of the classroom. Those are all in the past now. Now that I’m living in the city, those rare and brief moments of rain fall brings back nostalgic memories.

Like every(well, most) kid from the 90s, I wanted a pony. My dad didn’t manage to get me a live one, but I apparently inherited an antique mechanical horse of some sort from my grandfather. Together we’d ride off as far as time and space would take us, my trusted steed and I. To date I have no idea whatever happened to it. Perhaps mom threw it out because it was so badly rusted, it became a health hazard ; perhaps it’s sitting in the attic, waiting for the day to come, when it would be ridden once more. I hope I’ll be able to go the distance as I’d dreamt of going when I was younger.

And the binoculars? Well, that one is a personal secret.

Heyooo! I'm currently working on a massive school final project and planning to produce an installation of 64 watercolour portraits. They're going to be of wonderful online artists to reveal their 'true faces'; a sub-theme of my project 'true colours'. I was just wondering if you would be kind enough to donate some photos and maybe a little caption revealing a bit about your art, inspirations and a bit about yourself! Though I completely understand if you don't want to be part of it.

i’d love to help out with your school project however I can! Though I’m not sure if i qualify as the sad reality is… I don’t have any art background in real life. Most of my works are in a spur of the moment doodles and random things like that… so I’m not sure if that falls under the category of an “artist”(?) haha;; Anyways, if it’s okay with you, let me know what sort of photos/caption do you need. :)

Bai is frequently summoned to solve “paranormal” mysteries that occur around San Zhong despite her claims that she is just a traditional healer and not a shaman or an exorcist. A common mistake outsiders make is to assume that Bai is Dong Li’s wife/spouse/gf due to the fact that they live under the same roof. In reality, Bai is Dong Li’s mentor, though there are hints that the bond they share runs deeper. She can be rash and hasty in making decisions, but her intentions are never ill.

Bai dislike fighting. She enjoys cooking when she’s in a good mood, unfortunately she can’t cook to save her life.

His trademark would be his silvery white hair that darkens at the tip (which he brushes off as a ‘birth defect’). As a result, he is constantly mistaken to be an old man from afar. Dong Li is extremely paranoid and somewhat of a coward despite being a skilled fighter. He is very calculative and intelligent, it is assumed that he has an IQ well over 150.

Dong Li’s past is never revealed. Though it is suggested that, apart from his mentor Bai, he is all alone in the world. He has a cold exterior and does not open up easily to anyone. Nevertheless, he is one of the most colourful character with a variety of emotions and mood-swings.

I like to draw comics, but I don’t think I’ve ever produced anything worth showing;;;

Back then when I started out I used a GPen and boy was it a mess with my clumsyness (spilled ink) and wobbly lines!

Then as I left for college, I started using digital media since it was easier to carry around and created less mess. I was really noob and used to use PainToolSAI(for inking) + OpenCanvas(toning) + Photoshop(text/editing) and gosh was it really frustrating to switch between programs. I wasn’t used to using a tablet so drawing was 999% times slower than what I could do on paper, though editing mistakes was a whole lot easier.

One of the most recent~~ly scrapped one~~ would be Cell, that, in my opinion, didn’t have the art style and quality to match the story I had in mind… Maybe I’ll redraw it someday in the future.

Few months ago, I got to try out MangaStudioEx, which was very different from what I’ve came across so far (Pixia, OpenCanvas, Painter, SAI, Photoshop, FireAlpaca). For starters, the lines don’t run as quick and smooth as it does in SAI, and colours don’t blend as well as it does in OC and Photoshop..

I later learnt that MSEx portrays at 300 to 600dpi or higher, so at 100% display the lines actually look a lot better. Toning in MSEx is a breeze, though I haven’t quite figure out how to work with text and speech bubbles and paneling… as you can see i’m still stuck using Beginner’s Assistant OTL

Another thing I like in MSEx is the ability to save in “story” rather than individual files. It makes reviewing pages more convenient imo? But that could just be me since I’m not a very organized person ):
